This large house at one of the highest points in the Nilgiri Hills harnessing beautiful views and natural delineating boundaries. The Casa Milieu as the name suggests, is architecture of circumstances and conditions by which it is surrounded; a person’s social environment. The approach has been extremely sensitive to understand the mountain terrain and build harmoniously. The House planned in three blocks connected through a sub-terrainian spine which connects the structure and also displays client’s precious art collection. The massing of the house is derived from the hierarchical organization of the great palaces of India as the “City Palace” in Udaipur. The pursuit of this proposal is based on a series of programs which adapt to the levels of the mountain. Terraces and large decks overlooking the valleys are precisely oriented and courtyards in each block allows to structure to have inside-outside relationship.
