The site had an enclosure with structures on three sides, thus the design had to be in such a way that it caters to the light entering from the front and the top. Thus, courtyards and skylights were adopted to get in illumination and ventilation. The front facade was designed with louvers as per the movement of the sun, so that there is a play of light and shadow throughout the building. To cater the need of inter-connectivity between the retail outlets, the floor plates are staggered. This arrangement of the levels also helps light to spread throughout the built mass. The central courtyard is the heart of the building, where all the floors look into and there is inter-connectivity.
The courtyards offer passive heating and cooling in the structure, maintaining balanced interior conditions. Being a landlocked site, the built mass had to open onto the front, helping the flow of air and light. The glass partitions make the mass look seamless and uninterrupted, maintaining connect between the outside and the inside.
Louvered Office was selected for NDTV Design and Architecture Awards 2017.
