Located on the northern roof of an existing 1980s house, Mandiram is an extension; a multi-purpose hall encouraging all forms of arts. The hall compliments the existing buildings and takes advantage of its elevated position, framing views to the street and gets ample natural light and ventilation. The clear simple form allows the hall to assert its presence humbly responding to the existing buildings, climate, energies and old trees.
Mandiram’s design is an attempt to create an amalgamation of contemporary details and traditional architecture techniques. It is not just a building of bricks and mortar, it’s a sacred space bounded by magnificent walls and a higher roof where the divinity manifests in the form of Art, where noble thoughts come from all directions, where the divine energy encompasses everyone who enters its portals bringing peace in their hearts.
